Overlooking historic St Philip St. and one block from vibrant King St. this spacious, newly renovated apartment is perfect for couples or families. It is part of a larger grouping of short term rentals that we own known as ST PHILIP SQUARE. It can be rented alone or combined for family reunions, corporate retreats, or wedding gatherings. There is ample free parking. We have a Walk Score of 94, meaning this location is a "Walker"s Paradise" with no need for a car.

This property is located in the "short term overlay" designated by this neighborhood and the city as LEGAL for this type of rental. This building is on the most southern edge of the "overlay" which means it as as close to the Calhoun/South of Broad area as you can legally be (with a few exceptions). It is not always obvious what the difference is. Moreover, this building received the CAROLOPOLIS AWARD for historic preservation in 1999 and belongs to a collection of important, historic buildings. Not all the buildings that you see photographed are of equal quality.

The Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood has become the hottest, most vibrant area in town. The list of popular RESTAURANTS is amazing. The Grocery, Hominy Grill, Five Loaves, Chez Nous, Wild Flour Bakery, The Macintosh, Sugar Bake Shop, Cannon Green, Goulette Bistro, D'Alessandros Pizza, Fuel, The Darling Oyster are just some we could list. You can find anything that suits your fancy.

There are also numerous SHOPS and Boutiques in walking distance--West Elm, Beads on Cannon, Filigree, Mac and Murphy, Indigo and Cotton. There are day spas salons and nearby yoga studios.

The College of Charleston campus with live oaks dripping with SPANISH MOSS is a few blocks south. The Marion Square MARKET held every Saturday is also a few blocks away as is the popular CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

However, if the BEACH calls, you you can easily access highway 17 north to Sullivans Island and the Isle of Palms, or south to Folly Beach, Kiawah Island or Wadmalaw Island. That route will also take you to the famous plantations and historic houses (Drayton Hall, Middleton Place, Magnolia Gardens).


The apartment is on the second floor. It consists of 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a gracious living room, a galley kitchen with eating area and a charming porch overlooking St Philip St.

BEDROOM 1 connects to the living room but is afforded privacy with locking double doors. The opening makes for a gracious entertaining area as the bedroom has a lovely Stella brass bed, beautiful fireplace with authentic tiles and handsome art.

The LIVING ROOM has 4 swivel chairs, with a West Elm queen sofa sleeper with high end gel mattress, a corner fireplace with attractive, original tiles and a flat screen tv above it. The bay windows overlook the porch.

The front BATHROOM is small. It has what we call a European shower in that the room is fully tiled and serves as the shower. The dramatic rain shower with additional handheld fixture is beautiful, works well and complements the lovely marble floor. The Toto toilet is built into the wall and the lovely sink makes use of an old stair wall. We don't want anyone to be surprised or disappointed by this bathroom. It is small but clever and it provides everything you need.

The second BATHROOM is at the other end of the hall. It has a large tiled shower, a large linen closet, a charming corner sink and a storage cabinet. Both bathrooms are available to the three bedrooms.

The second BEDROOM has a brand new king size bed with a large closet and a writing table. It is in the "mid-century" style with a large, dynamic piece of art over the bed. It has a roomy closet.

The third BEDROOM holds a queen bed, two nightstands with with reading lamps. It is at the end of the apartment next to the larger bathroom. Its closet with a chest of drawers is across from the washer/dryer shown in the photo. It is smaller than the other two bedrooms but comfortably holds a nice queen bed.


We have a large parking area behind the house. There is an attractive walkway leading from the parking area to the street entrance. Jamie, whose office is in the same area, will provide you with a parking pass showing your assigned parking place. We have a “walk score” of 94, meaning we are “a walker’s paradise”. You will probably be happy to leave your car in our lot and walk everywhere.
